About the Project
Repair and refurbishment of an existing multi-level apartment complex
The Gloucester Body Corporate
The 10-storey Gloucester Street apartment complex suffered substantial damage in the 2011 earthquake.
During the course of repairs, our team discovered that not only had the building suffered damage to the structural sheer walls, it also had inadequate passive fire protection.
The recladding of the complex’s façade used a lighter loading, and the addition of new balustrades and balconies has resulted in a more modern-looking exterior. A temporary roof was installed to provide weather-tightness during this phase of the repair. Seismic strengthening and upgrading of the fire protection gives peace of mind to the complex’s residents.
Leighs Construction also provided fitouts for each of the 29 apartments in the complex. This included new interiors, as well as some retaining existing joinery that had to be carefully integrated into the new interior design.
