The Gilgit Wing project team has been awarded the Hubexo Collaboration Award at the 2025 Building People Awards, hosted by Building Institute Aotearoa (formerly NZIOB).

This national collaboration award recognises the strong partnership between RCP (lead nominator), Allevia Health (Client), Barnes Beagley Doherr, Norman Disney Young, Klein Architects, and Leighs, who came together to deliver a highly complex, people-first healthcare facility in Epsom, Auckland.

“We’re proud to have been part of a team that delivered critical infrastructure for Allevia Health, a project grounded in trust, respect, and open communication. It’s a real example of our values in action: Pride, Passion, and Excellence.” – André Lovatt, CEO

Collaboration on the Gilgit Wing project was more than coordination, it was built on mutual respect, transparency, and a shared commitment to the outcome. The team navigated technical, logistical and clinical challenges through open communication and aligned values.

The Gilgit Wing forms part of the broader Allevia Health Epsom campus. The project reflects Leighs’ ongoing commitment to delivering healthcare infrastructure to help New Zealanders to live well, stay well, and get well.

“We are extremely proud to have been part of the winning team responsible for delivering the new Gilgit Wing of the Allevia hospital in Auckland. Projects and collaborative project teams like this don't come along every day, so when they do, they stand out for all involved and leave a legacy for our clients - it's how construction should be.” shared Tony Emery, Leighs North Island Operations Manager.

André Lovatt sums it up, “This award is recognition of a team that put the project first, listened to each other, and delivered something that will serve the community for years to come. I’m incredibly proud of our team and our partners. This is what construction should look like.”

The Gilgit Wing project reflects Leighs’ ongoing commitment to the healthcare sector, and to delivering work that lives up to our values: Pride, Passion, and Excellence.
