ENVIRONMENT

Providing a positive contribution to the social and economic elements of sustainable construction, and conducting business in such a way that minimizes any potential adverse effects on the environment.

As an ISO14001 accredited organization with a formalised Environmental Management System, we stand committed to working alongside our clients toward common environmental and sustainable targets.

Environment

The key principals that LCL adopts to minimise the construction footprint and environmental impacts are within an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) that is delivered for all projects by the Environmental and Sustainability Manager and implemented by the Project Team.

The EMP for the project aims to identify, mitigate and monitor potential environmental issues that may arise during the construction phase, and ensure compliance with all relevant authorizations, contractual requirements, and resource consents. Additionally, it demonstrates the key environmental and sustainability drivers that LCL implements for each project.

Current Project Involvement

Current Green star projects in progress include:

  • Project Maunga Taranaki Base Hospital

  • University of Otago Christchurch Campus Redevelopment

  • Scott Base Redevelopment

We have also built a 6 Home Star project for Kāinga Ora on Lake Road, Auckland.  Learn more about our successfully completed Green Star projects BNZ in Christchurch and the Fisher and Paykel Building in Auckland.

Sustainability

Leighs is embarking on a long-term journey to design and implement a sustainability strategy for the company as part of our Strategic Framework for 2022 – 2025. The strategy will be implemented from the operational business to our projects, and will ripple to people, resources, and nature.
