Te Huhi Raupō Renal Unit

Te Huhi Raupō is now set to be the first healthcare building in New Zealand to achieve Net Zero Energy Certification from the Living Future Institute, meaning that the total energy use over a year will be neutral.

Te Huhi Raupō Renal Unit

A single-storey 800m2 standalone building on the Taranaki Base Hospital Campus, to support the provision of haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services, as well as support services and training. The unit has a distinctly non-clinical feel for optimal patient wellbeing, and provides for 10 treatment chairs with distant sea views, two training rooms, an isolation room and a self-care room. Three outpatient rooms mean the facility can accommodate support teams such as social work, dietitian, podiatry, and can provide wrap-around care for patients with diabetes.

Te Huhi Raupō Renal Unit

As New Zealand’s first net-zero healthcare facility, Te Huhi Raupō serves as a pioneer in sustainable building design, with the entire team collaborating to deliver a benchmark for future healthcare projects (all major healthcare infrastructure is now required to be designed and built to 5 Green Star requirements).
